Once you’ve added a content item to a board, you can call attention to it by making it a leading item. This enlarges the item and moves it to the right side of your positioning area under the banner, making it the very first item on the board.
A board can only have one leading item and by definition, a leading item is not included in any category.
Because of the prominent place it occupies, a leading item should be very graphically appealing. Try selecting an item with strong visuals, like a video or infographic. Remember your goal is to communicate key information to viewers, and entice them to explore your board.
A board with a leading item
To select a leading item:
1. Select the board you wish to design.
2. Click the Designer tab > Items.
3. Go to Show Leading Item.
4. Click Change. This opens a menu of all items currently on the board.
5. Choose a leading item from the menu by selecting the item. At the bottom, click Select.
6. Click Save.
The item will align center automatically. To add text next to your leading item, edit the Item Title.
Tip: Selecting a leading item often changes the sequence of your content, as the leading item automatically becomes the first item on the board, regardless of its original placement in the content tab. This can alter the journey your viewers take when exploring your content from start to finish.
Therefore, when choosing a leading item, make sure your content still follows a sequence that makes sense to readers and conveys a clear narrative or message. To achieve this, you may have to rearrange your other items.
