Cookie Consent messages, also known as privacy warnings, are required by The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and allow you to notify users about cookie usage and collection. All individual citizens of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) are required to receive consent before setting cookies. 

As Admin, you can configure a cookie policy for your organization in two ways: 

• Manage cookies natively within Folloze 
• Use an external cookie management system. If you opt to use an external tool, the remaining content of this article does not pertain to your organization. 

By managing cookies natively in Folloze, you can customize the cookie policy for implicit, explicit or no consent based on users’ locations. 

• Implicit consent implies that visitors agree to the use of cookies by simply continuing to use the website. 
• Explicit consent requires visitors to take action to indicate their agreement to the use of cookies.  
  • Leveraging known identity in session: a message with the option to accept or reject cookies will appear. 
    • The cookie will only be set in the visitor’s browser when consent is given.  
    • If the visitor’s identity is known, they will be exposed to personalized boards and will be tracked, regardless of whether they explicitly accept or reject the cookies.
  • Anonymizing known identity in session: a message with the option to accept or reject cookies will appear. 
    • The cookie will only be set in the visitor’s browser when consent is given.  
    • Personalization can only be carried out after consent is given.
    • Even if the visitor’s identity is known, they will not be exposed to personalized boards or tracked, until they will explicitly accept the cookies. 

Each cookie policy includes distinct messaging for two different audiences: 

• Regulated countries by GPDR
• Non-regulated countries 

To configure a cookie policy:  

1. Go to Company Admin > Privacy > Cookie Policy.
2. Click Add Policy.

• For Implicit, enter the cookie policy message in the text box.   

• For Explicit, choose the Explicit Consent Method and then enter the cookie policy message in the text box.
  • Leveraging known identity in session
  • Anonymizing known identity in session

• For None: there is no option to add text. A cookie is sent in the visitor’s browser, but no cookie message will appear.

6. Set the cookie policy for Non Regulated Countries as described above.

7. You can customize the labels and styles of the buttons displayed on your cookie banner.

• • Accept Button Label – Defines the text displayed on the button that accepts cookies. You can also choose the button style (Primary or Link).

  • Reject Button Label – Defines the text displayed on the button that rejects or declines all cookies. Like the accept button, you can also configure its style.
    
    

Enabled Cookie Floating Icon – When this option is turned on, a small floating icon will appear on live boards. Clicking this icon reopens the cookie banner, allowing visitors to review and update their cookie choice at any time. The floating icon inherits the same colors as the board's Primary Button style to ensure visual consistency.

After setting the cookie policy for both regulated and non-regulated countries, click Save.

Important to know

• In case your company has implemented an explicit cookie policy or has special requirements based on internal policies, please contact our Folloze support team at support@folloze.com or submit a request here to enable the explicit cookie policy feature. 
• However, if your company’s cookie policy is straightforward and applies implicit consent to all visitors, or if you are integrated with an external third-party cookie platform, it is recommended to continue using Folloze’s default cookie feature. 
• You can choose to create your own cookie messages internally in Folloze or use an external tool to handle your organization's cookie messages.
