What is a cookie?
A cookie is a simply a bit of text on your browser that is “built specifically for Internet web browsers to track, personalize, and save information about each user’s session. A “session” just refers to the time you spend on a site.” (https://www.kaspersky.com/resource-center/definitions/cookies).
How does Folloze use cookies?
Folloze uses cookies primarily for identification and tracking. The “folloze_lead” cookie (see more information below) contains an identifier that links a user to a lead in Folloze. If the user has completed an identifying action like filling out a form or clicking on a campaign link, then any visits to Folloze boards (as long as the "folloze_lead" cookie is still on the browser and not blocked) will show up in the Pulse table as coming from “user@email.com” instead of as a “Guest”. Conversely, if the “folloze_lead” cookie is blocked, the user will only show as unknown.
What types of cookie consent does Folloze support?
- Implicit: By default, Folloze enables users to create cookie warning messages that provide more information about how users are tracked. Standard functionality allows Folloze users to display the message globally, or only for GDPR-regulated countries (see below). For more information on how to set up a cookie warning message, read more here.
- Explicit: If your organization requires that visitors to your web properties have the option to either accept or reject cookies, then you likely require an explicit cookie consent model. Through the use of our Custom Scripts interface, Folloze can work with virtually any third-party cookie consent manager, such as OneTrust or TrustArc, to facilitate explicit tracking consent.
For more information about implementing explicit consent cookie management via tools like OneTrust, reach out to your CSM or Customer Solution Engineer.
What are the “regulated countries” included if I use the Folloze-generated cookie banner?
Regulated countries generally include countries that have GDPR law(s). They include the following as of 2022:
